New Sleep Sounds: Introducing “Dreamscape”

Dreamscape

At Back to the Garden Childcare, we understand how important it is to have a peaceful bedtime routine. That’s why we’ve created “Dreamscape,” our Spotify playlist designed to calm restless nights and bring on the sweetest of dreams.

Why “Dreamscape”?

This playlist has been carefully curated to help your little ones relax and drift off into a peaceful slumber. Studies have shown that soft, background music at nap time and bedtime improves sleep quality.

“A Northwestern University study notes that the brain of a person who is sleeping soundly still listens and learns. The National Association for the Education of Young Children recommends music experiences in early childhood because through music, babies and toddlers can come to better understand themselves and their feelings, learn to decipher patterns and solve problems, and discover the world around them in rich, complex ways. Most important, sharing music experiences with the people they love makes very young children feel cherished and important.” Taken from The Tabernacle Choir article ‘The Benefits of Playing Music to Children at Bedtime’.

Each track has been selected to create a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for easing your child into sleep. From gentle lullabies to serene melodies, “Dreamscape” is your new bedtime companion.

How to Use “Dreamscape”

Press Play: Start the playlist on your preferred device.
Dim the Lights: Create a cosy and calm environment by lowering the lights.
Relax: Let the gentle melodies work their magic.
Sensory: For an additional sensory element of scent why not try diffusing some calming essential oils like lavender, chamomile or frankincense. When using essential oils with children make sure you use the smallest amount (a little goes a long way) and leave a door open so that the room can ventilate. Go for the purest and highest quality too.
Routine is key: Try to stick to the same pattern each night (when you can), then your child becomes comfortable in the consistence. It may go something like this for toddlers (but follow your child and what works for you and their age). Always repeat the phrase ‘sleepytime’ throughout the routine too. Bath-time, dry off and moisturise (this is when your playlist starts), fresh nappy and sleepwear, milk, brush teeth, story time, say goodnight to all the toys, turn of lights, lower into cot, a little pat/stroke and final ‘it’s sleepy time now’.

Benefits

Smoother Bedtimes: Reduce bedtime struggles with calming music.
Better Sleep: Help your child fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Quality Rest: Enjoy some well-deserved rest as your little one drifts off peacefully.
