She may be stepping into a new role, but we go way back with Rachel! Many of you from Lymm will recognise her from Preschool and the Baby Room, where she has been a dedicated and passionate member of our team. Now, she’s taking on the exciting role of Forest School Leader, bringing her love for outdoor learning to even more children.
Not only that, but Rachel is also our Sensory Seedlings space holder, meaning both nursery families and the wider community will have the chance to experience a taste of Back To The Garden Childcare. These special sessions will offer little ones the chance to explore nature through all their senses, creating a truly enriching experience.
Here’s what Rachel has to say about her new role:
“Hello! I’m Rachel, the new Forest School leader. Outdoor learning has been a passion of mine since childhood, growing up camping and exploring the outdoors. I love sharing that with my own children, and I can’t wait to bring that same joy to the children here. I’ve been learning from Zoe, and with a decade of experience in childcare and outdoor learning, I’m now working towards my Forest School qualification!
I believe open-ended play in nature helps children take risks, use their imagination, and develop mindfulness – skills they’ll carry into adulthood. My favourite thing about outdoor learning? How something as simple as growing plants or finding a worm can fill children with awe and wonder.”
Rachel is a Level 3 in early years education and has 11 years experience in the sector. She is working towards her Forest School Qualification. This is a perfect example of how someone can grow within our nursery family, developing their skills and gaining a sense of empowerment by following their passions.
We are so excited for this next chapter of Forest School at Back to the Garden and can’t wait for the children to benefit from Rachel’s passion and knowledge. Keep an eye out for more updates on our Forest School sessions and Sensory Seedlings events!
