What advice do you have for new parents?
nn
To take each day as it comes, trust your own instincts and to not compare your baby’s behaviour to others. Know that most things are temporary phases that will pass with time, and to enjoy it as you’ll miss each different stage when it’s gone.

nn
What skills have you best learnt about yourself through becoming and being a parent?
nn
Before having children, I was absolutely certain that my babies would be in a flawless routine punctuated with perfect napping and asleep in their own beds by 7pm for 12 hours. Fast forward to actually becoming a mum and I’ve learned that parenting styles and routines can’t be forced, I’m much more of a relaxed co-sleeping, baby-wearing, feeding on demand earth mother than anyone would have predicted.
nn
What superpower do you wish you had as a parent?
nn
To slow the time down – it’s all racing by far too fast!
n
n
If you could have any help in any area as a parent what would it be?
nn
Help with the sometimes endless everyday chores – bed making, laundry, food shopping and trying to be inventive with meals,

What are your favourite tips and skills that you might share with others about your parenting?
nn
Don’t google everything and don’t get too hung up on routine. If everyone is healthy and happy, that’s fine. Make time for yourself and for all of you as family. Get outside as often as you can for long walks, and enjoy lots of different travel adventures.

Are there any books / links / quotes that have really helping you on your parenting journey?
nn
I’m not really into parenting books, but I do like a good quote and these two really resonate with me, “The days are long, but the years are short,” and “One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is to have a happy childhood.”
n
n
What’s your child’s favourite book?
nn
Max is in an Enid Blyton phase, he loves The Enchanted Wood and The Magic Faraway Tree
n
Felix likes anything with pirates, dinosaurs and monsters, he particularly likes the ’10 Little…’ series by Mike Brownlow, 10 Little Monsters, 10 Little Pirates and 10 Little Dinosaurs

What superpower do you wish you had as a parent

To be able to mind read, especially when they were little and just learning to communicate. It would have been amazing to know what PJ and Darcie were thinking or feeling before they could speak.

What skills have you best learnt about yourself through becoming and being a parent?
n
n
Selflessness – my needs come last within the family. I am also an expert at multi-tasking now!

n
If you could have any help in any area as a parent what would it be?
n
n
I was always daunted by weaning – how much was the right amount of food to give, how quickly should I introduce new foods, do I continue trying with certain foods….a professional baby weaner would have been brilliant!

What are your favourite tips and skills that you might share with others about your parenting?
n
n
Little chats with my children at night are so precious, but also very informative – they love sharing things with me at that time. Constantly tell them that you love them. Play with them, be silly and have fun with them…they grow up quickly. Don’t moan when they get into bed with you – it won’t last and then you’ll really miss it!

Are there any books / links / quotes that have really helping you on your parenting journey?
n
n
I didn’t read any parenting books as I wanted to figure it all out myself and do it my way. I knew I would embrace it and take it all in my stride.
n
My two children have been brought up the exact same, but both are so different. PJ is very chilled and laid back, Darcie is not…she is feisty and confident and so switched on – this quote reminds me of her: “and though she be but little she is fierce”
n
n
What’s your child’s favourite book?
n
n
PJ currently likes the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series whilst Darcie loves Roald Dahl books.
n
They both loved Superworm when they were younger…it’s the most read book in the house!
